Hugo Restall - EditorHugo Restall became the editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review in October 2004, and is also a member of the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal. In 2004 he was posted in New York and wrote editorials for The Wall Street Journal about the presidential campaign and the U.S. economy. From 1999 to 2003, he was editorial page editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal. At the AWSJ, he managed a team of three editorial writers, solicited signed opinion pieces and wrote editorials on Asia that also appeared in The Wall Street Journal and The Wall Street Journal Europe. Mr. Restall first joined the AWSJ in April 1994 as an editorial page writer. In 2001 and 2003, Mr. Restall won the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) award for "Best Opinion Piece." He is an Asian Studies graduate of Dartmouth College and studied Mandarin Chinese at Yunnan University. Colum Murphy - Deputy EditorColum Murphy became deputy editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review in March 2005. Previously he was a reporter on the metro desk at the Hong Kong Standard, where he covered the Hong Kong region and wrote articles on topics ranging from daily news to broader public policy issues. He has also conducted research or reported for publications such as The Asian Wall Street Journal, the International Herald Tribune, Newsweek, the Bangkok Post and the Nihon Keizai Shimbun. Prior to journalism, Mr. Murphy worked in management consulting in both the Asia-Pacific region as well as Europe. He holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. He is fluent in Japanese, and earned a Masters of Commerce from Tokyo's Meiji University. He is a graduate of Dublin City University, where he studied International Marketing and Japanese. ![]() Michael Judge - Contributing EditorMichael Judge became a contributing editor at the Far Eastern Economic Review in August 2007. From 2000 to 2005 he was an assistant editorial features editor and later deputy editorial features editor at The Wall Street Journal. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, he served as an editorial writer then deputy editorial page editor at The Wall Street Journal Asia from late 1997 to mid 2000. Prior to joining the The Wall Street Journal he was managing editor of the Vietnam Business Journal and a senior editor at Look Japan magazine. Currently a freelance journalist, his articles and reviews have appeared in, among other publications, The Wall Street Journal, The Wall Street Journal Europe, The Wall Street Journal Asia and the International Herald Tribune.
